Future State

The dynamic, fluid form of Future State evokes a sense of movement and possibility, inviting an agile, forward-looking mindset. Curvilinear shapes contrast with the precise lines and angles of each square, creating a tension between structure and flow.

Strands of color descend at deliberate intervals, always perpendicular to the floor. As the viewer moves, subtle shifts in angle reveal changing relationships between light and shadow, demonstrating the infinite possibilities of color, hue, and value. Natural light from the surrounding windows continuously interacts with the work, enhancing its sense of motion and transformation throughout the day.

The piece is composed of Baltic birch squares, painted in a range of colors and finishes and suspended by fine filament. The nearly invisible supports allow the forms to appear as though they are floating in space, reinforcing the work’s sense of lightness, openness, and potential.
